Not planned

We're getting bad reviews from some of our readers who want pinch and zoom ability on our app, as we used to when we built using DPS. Our app is for engineers, and some want to zoom into detail. Also some are elderly.

Anybody got a solution.

We don't support pinch & zoom for InDesign-based .articles or .publications with PDF-export.

For InDesign-based documents, we strongly believe in pixel-perfect designs. Because that offers the best reader-experience. It requires the publisher to adapt the layout, that's true. But with Scrollable Content (which offers Pan & Zoom) and Full Screen Images, you can offer zoomable content for parts that require you to that. Since the rest of the design would then be pixel-perfect, reader won't require to zoom in on the content. In the end, this offers a much better reader-experience. We have a lot of converted Adobe DPS customers and in the end, the vast majority of them became strong advocates of pixel-perfect design as well.

There is also an alternative: Building an article-based application that support .html content. There you can pinch & zoom.

Our readers don't agree. We had pinch and zoom on our app when we published using Adobe DPS, so our readers still expect it.

Like explained, we always believed in a pixel perfect layout when it's about InDesign-based layouts. We have a lot of customers (and readers) that are very happy with the available options. It's all about choices and a good layout. According to us, readers having to pinch & zoom in order to be able to read the content, is not a good reader experience.

In addition, Twixl Publisher never supported pinch & zoom. So the lack of this functionality could haven been discovered by testing a Development application (during trial).

Also, keep in mind that Twixl Publisher is not the same product as Adobe DPS. Although we offer similar functionality, it's a different product. We have our own roadmap, our own philosophy, etc.

However, we are always willing to have a look at your app and offer you suggestions how to improve the reader-experience (besides the hints we already provided in this thread). We couldn't find any active application or subscription linked to this account, so we invite you to create a ticket with all the needed info for our Support Team.

We are getting the same reviews from customers, this is needed in my opinion especially in Phones-only apps.
