Hello,

Recently working through Apple's review process it has come to light that they are requiring that both a Privacy Policy and Term of Use be easily accessible and clearly presented to the users of the app. In the context of an Issue based app, there is the ability to add the Privacy Policy (any URL) to the app menu through the platform site. It would be nice to also have the ability to populate a second link, for example, a link to the TOU as many clients have separate pages for this purpose.

Thanks

    Hello Connor,

    Thank you for your response.

    We are unable to comment on other apps’ approvals or rejections. Please note that each app is reviewed as is against the current App Store Guidelines, and not on the precedent basis. Therefore prior approvals do not guarantee automatic approvals of subsequent submissions.

    On occasion, there may be apps on the App Store that don't appear to be in compliance with the App Store Review Guidelines.

    We work hard to ensure that the apps on the App Store are in compliance, and we try to identify any apps currently on the App Store that may not be. It takes time to identify these occurrences, but another app being out of compliance is not a reason for your app to be.

    As previously stated, ALL of the required subscription information should be displayed in the purchase flow. Having the Terms link elsewhere in the app is not sufficient. Please refer to the attached screenshot for assistance.

    Once you have made the appropriate changes, please resubmit your app for review.

    We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to reviewing your revised app.

    Best regards,

    App Store Review

    I'm sorry can you please help me here.

    I do not get this.

    I've checked many many apps for clarity on where they post their terms of use during in the payment flow, and ours in fact is the easiest to find, and more clearly defined than Smule "sing" and Babbel+

    So can you please help me with exactly what you require, since what I have sent you is more easily found than any of the other subscription apps out there. (I'm referring to the screenshot image I sent in a the previous correspondence.

    Hello,

    Thank you for your response.

    Please refer to the attached screenshots.

    To answer your question, ALL of the required subscription information should be displayed in the purchase flow. Having the Terms link elsewhere in the app is not sufficient.

    Please note that the subscription information should:
    - be accessible even after the subscription is purchased;
    - be a part of the purchase flow;
    - be clearly and conspicuously displayed to the user;
    - NOT be concealed behind a link or a button.

    We hope you will consider making the necessary changes to be in compliance with the App Store Review Guidelines. Please note that we will be unable to proceed with the review of your app until this issue is resolved. We appreciate your cooperation and look forward to reviewing your revised app.

    Best regards,

    App Store Review

    The Link to the "Terms Of Use" is in the hamburger menu at the bottom of the list

    Does that work?

    We noticed that your app or its metadata did not fully meet the terms and conditions for auto-renewing subscriptions, as specified in Schedule 2, section 3.8(b) of the Paid Applications agreement.

    Your app's binary did not include:

    – A link to the terms of use

    Next Steps

    To resolve this issue, please revise your app or its metadata to include the missing information.

    If the above information is in your app, please reply to this message in Resolution Center to provide details on where to locate it.

    To learn more about auto-renewing subscription requirements, please review Schedule 2, section 3.8(b) of the Paid Applications agreement in iTunes Connect.

We have created an official Feature Request.

Until then, as said before, you can use this valid workaround (and this will work, we have lots of clients that have had approved apps this way):

  • Combine the Privacy Policy & Terms of Use in one URL
  • Adapt the Privacy Policy Button Title to Privacy Policy/Terms of Use
  • Resubmit your app
